Dear all,
Most of the Indian Language Layout variants were removed from xkb following a wrong bug filing from a redhat employee. Here is the bug report: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config/commit/?id=913af7dafaab8ff4a9ae0d1e4c4097caf4a8022d
This bug report based on a wrong assumption that Indians seldom use xkb layouts literally made the Inscript Keyboard Layouts unusable by default. Inscript is the de-facto standard for inputting Indic languages and promoted by government as well. It does not need any complex rendering rules like table based input methods provide.
After users reporting on the problem it created, the same was reverted. See: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101532
But when I installed the latest snapshot of KaOS, I couldn't enable Malayalam, the language, I uses because this revert has not been reflected on our xkb code. Urgently apply that patch so that, we can continue using these languages.
