I tried to install the KaOS 2018.08 last weekend with 10-100% failure!
Works Like A Charm
- Full installation process
- Decryption process
Do Not Work Like A Charm Or At All
- Rebooting PC with the ISO DVD in the driver
- Logging in as the user (Second Password)
*This Is What Happens**
Rebooting PC With The ISO DVD In The Driver
Rebooting PC with the ISO DVD in the driver after the installation process is complete.
Ubuntu for example has it made that way if you leave the disc in the driver while rebooting a notification text comes up and asks you to (Please Remove The Installation Media And Then Press Enter) to continue. In this case no note comes up so if you leave the disc in the driver the system will think that you want to make a new install of the OS again. And because of this It got locked, so I removed the ISO DVD and had to shut down and reboot the PC. I even tried to remove the DVD immediately after I was asked to reboot but then I just got a blank screen and couldn't get any further so I had to shut down the PC and restart it again.
Logging In As The User (Second & Last Password)
After i bypassed the Decryption (This password worked every single time) and I try to write the second password for the User-Account It says that the password is wrong or failed! But no, the password was NOT wrong, in the matter of fact it was 100% right. I even tried to debug it myself.
How Did I Try To Debug It?
Keyboard Layout
Changed the Keyboard layout language to see if that would affect the Letters/Signs but no change.
CAPTCHA
Double checked so CAPTCHA wasn't activated (Even tried to write the password with it On/Off )
Maximum Lenght
I have no idea what the Maximum length for the password in KaOS is or even what Letter/Symbols/Characters/Numbers that are allowed to use so please enlighten me. However I even tried with 9 characters but still the same result.
The last time I tried to install the OS I'm 100% sure the password was correctly written twice into the installation process and then into the Log-In step aswell.
I would strongly advice you guys to mark the ✓ Check-Mark for password confirmation in green when the passwords have been written identically twice. Even though I saw the difference between Light/Dark grey I think Red/Green can't be more straight forward then that.
Now my question is, what could cause this to happen and how to avoid it happens again?
