mrcrowley YES !! It works !!! So is it a problem with 1.1.7 alsa package ?? Now I have to wait for a new release of alsa packages to fix this problem ??? Thank you Demm !!
demm Please check if it is just alsa-lib: sudo pacman -Syu --ignore alsa-lib If issue is found to be in this single package, then I can hunt down some possible fixes/patches. EDIT: Could be this issue/patch: https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-lib/commit/b420056604f06117c967b65d43d01536c5ffcbc9 or: https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-lib/commit/6eced6b4b6dca9f62ea3d13a40c5991231df3c5c
mrcrowley mmm .... I don't know if it really matter but with another KaOS pc and different audio device, the alsa updates does not get any problem. Maybe I could try to update again ?
mrcrowley I have tried again to install alsa package 1.1.7 , but even this time I get lost the audio device AudioQuest DragonFly Black ver 1.5. I don't know, maybe is a problem with driver of this device.
demm If you search for some bug reports with 1.1.7, there are issues with a few devices only. Please answer my previous question, if only downgrading alsa-lib works. Then I will try a rebuild & adding the 2 patches linked above. I cannot test, since none of my devices have any issue with 1.1.7.
demm Please test: sudo pacman -U http://kaosx.tk/repo/build/alsa-lib-1.1.7-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz Reboot after this update and report back if any improvement.
mrcrowley Only this alsa-lib ??? alsa-plugins and alsa-utils stay at 1.1.6 or should update to 1.1.7 ?? Edit: try with only alsa-lib update and pulseaudio ok !!
demm mrcrowley .... updating alsa-plugins and alsa-utils to 1.1.7 .... lost audio device again !!! So those where downgraded in the test.
demm That was the whole point for me asking to only downgrade alsa-lib.....which you clearly did not do. So issue is not in alsa-lib, but in one of the other two packages. I will not try and debug further this way.
mrcrowley demm WHAT !!??? Why do you say that I did not downgrade only alsa-lib !!!?? I told you that I got no audio device also with ONLY alsa-lib downgrade !!!
mrcrowley At First time Yes. Only alsa-lib to ver 1.1.7-2, and it works ok. Then I try to update also alsa-plugins and alsa-utils to ver 1.1.7, but It does not work.
demm Yes, there are quite a few upstream bug reports for alsa 1.1.7, so for now, if you have an issue with 1.1.7, use sudo pacman -Syu --ignore alsa-lib,alsa-utils,alsa-plugins to keep using 1.1.6 (if you downgraded to all 3).
