mendez Hi. Are there any plans to remove webkit from a default installation? Other distributions are already trying They mentioned Marble and Digikam. Marble I think it's already done a step to qtwebengine - 1 2 New Digikam6 also.
demm QtWebkit was in the process of being removed from the KaOS repos in 2016. Then a fork emerged and was extensively discussed in the Qt ml, and end conclusion was that this fork would eventually be merged into main Qt. http://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/development/2017-May/029795.html http://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/development/2017-May/date.html Not sure if OpenSuse ever moved to this fork (so they kept shipping unmaintained "official" version). I know the merge has not happened yet, but this discussion is just over one year old, too soon to say if it really will happen, or it is a dead issue. https://github.com/annulen/webkit/issues/775
mendez Thanks. Could you may consider applying OpenSuse patches to KDE Plasma libraries and also signon-ui to switch them to use QtWebEngine instead? Then we will have only a few remnants on QtWebkit.
