Krita - Blank canvas after opening an image

I am using latest version (pre-alpha) from the stable repo. I use Krita to trim jpeg images. With the new version, when I open an image, the canvas is blank, no image is visible. The app however, is responsive otherwise. I tried zooming in and out thinking image might be hiding in invisible corner of my canvas, but still all dark.

I am not sure if it is my graphics driver (inxi says I have Intel 4th Gen integrated driver using Mesa for GLX) or more people have experienced a similar issue?

Can you upload the image with this issue? Or is the same for all?

All my .png, .jpg load and can be edited, layers added, etc great (that is why it finally moved)

Appears to be all images. Just for testing, I downloaded and tried Krita to open 1.png from KaOS' webstie, but same results. I also tried this on another, slightly old laptop and again canvas area is blank/dark. I tried changing the Krita's default dark theme to KDE default or midna but no luck there either. Krita is working for you, so that's makes it more intriguing.

Krita puts out a lot of messages on console, but here are some that looked interesting to me:

Loading "Calligra/Device" with checking the config

Loaded plugin "/usr/lib/calligra/calligra_device_spacenavigator.so"

connect failed: No such file or directory

profiles ("/usr/share/krita/input/kritadefault.profile")

StencilBoxDocker(0x27f4fa0, name = "StencilBox") is not a canvas observer

OpenGL version 3.2 or higher is present.

OpenGL version 3.3 or higher is present.

I'd think Krita to be one of the more popular application of the Calligra bunch, so people should report back if they experience issues similar to what I have. Meanwhile I am falling back to using gimp.

Same output here (a plugin that is not ported yet I presume), but no issues.....

Possible you have some old krita profile around somewhere in /home?

Found a work-around. From Settings->Configure Kritra->Display-> Unselect "OpenGL".

There are still some minor annoyances,

changing zoom level doesn't immediately resize the image, that is until Krita's application window itself is repainted by either resizing or maximizing etc.

image scroll bars seem to freeze randomly, thus can't pan larger images
