Hi all
I have tested KaOS in Virtualbox and liked it. Then, I decided to install it on my ASUS T300LA laptop (GPT partitioning).
The installation went well. However, I still want to have a dual boot to be able to keep testing other DE with other distributions (I am curious to know how things evolve around).
Then, I tried to boot on an USB flash drive to install another distro on another partition. It was not possible any more. At that stage, my laptop boots on KaOS and I have access to the BIOS menu.
I looked at the BIOS options and nothing seems to have changed. To boot on a flash drive, I need to press Volume-Up and Start button together. It seems that the laptop tries to boot on the flash drive as the LED blinks on it and I have an hourglass symbol on the screen which is the sign that the laptop is trying to boot from a flash drive. However, something seems to prevent launching the distro on it as the only thing I get is a black screen each time.
So, what I did is to try to force booting from an EFI file on the flash drive. For that, I created a specific boot entry in the BIOS to point specifically at an EFI file on the USB flash drive. Then, I saved the BIOS change and reboot using the option Boot Override to specifically use the path to the EFI file on the flash drive. Now is the disaster.... :?
I still cannot launch a distro from the flash drive and on the top of that, I don't have access to the BIOS menu anymore !
To enter the BIOS, I need to keep pressing the Delete key while starting but it doesn't work. I tried to press Volume-Down and the Start button which is suppose to launch the BIOS menu according to Asus manual but it doesn't work either.
It seems that I can still try to boot on an USB flash drive but as nothing is launched (see beginning of the post), it doesn't help....
Has someone an idea ? I would be grateful as, right now, I have a dead laptop (hopefully it is only a coma and it will recover ! : )
