i tried to install to an existing partition that should be formatted by the installer.

Result, see attached image from gparted. The numbers of the single Partitions are mixed up:

sdb9 AFTER sdb13 and so on.

That happens the second time i try KaOs!

What i did was nothing special: install to sdb8, format it with ext4, grub to /

I really would like to know whats happening:

It will be good if you can state the iso version that you try to install.

Confirm this issue as per

Watch out also for swap uuid changes. You will need to change other existing OS fstab/grub etc..

Also unable to install in UEFI. And unable to install grub in own partition.

To be fair, this is installer Calamares problem, not really KaOS problem.

Hi gohlib,

tried to install KaOS-2015.08-x86_64.iso.

I have no UEFI.

" And unable to install grub in own partition."

that could be a reason?!!

"Watch out also for swap uuid changes"

that happened, due to Calamares !!!

Just wanted to know:

Why does Calamares mixed up the Partition Numbers? sdb8 becomes sdb13

It should have formatted sdb8 with ext4, install grub to / .. nothing else!!

I had this issue some month ago allready, killed the installation, thought: try again and that was a big mistake, made by me!!

But i thought tell them about this issue, perhaps they stop using this bad installer!!

Hint: i have no primary partition at all!!

good luck!!

Not possible to answer any without at least the installation log, see

"this bad installer" isn't going anywhere, no installer is bug free, users who actually want to use KaOS have no issue. Your setup is not for a normal user who plans to just use KaOS. Bug reports are always welcome, ranting is not.

As for second commenter, UEFI GRUB is not supported in KaOS, only systemd-boot.

Stating that UEFI installs are not possible, is complete new.....thousands have reported no issues with UEFI installs. Again, anyone can come up with some kind of complicated disk setup were they can find a bug in an installer, that does not mean "UEFI installs is not possible".

Forum posts are not the place to get work done on this, if this is a calamares issue for certain dis setups, open a bug report in the tracker.

sorry, i have no installation-log because Calamaris stopped with an error: grub ...

But i'm sure gohlip and me reported this error, others had it also but just thought: ok. forget this distribution.

When it stops there of course is a log. Again with current available info, no-one can help you with installing.

No Kaos-Bootloader on sdc7. That's not even necessary.

So please bring your PC configuration in order!

Und, motzen Sie hier nicht herum, bei dieser "kleinen und feinen Distribution", wie

@devil das sagte. ;)
