adam I checked mirror traffic and there is still lot of free bandwith that can be used. So I think mirror of ISO can be added to download page if needed.
adam I checked mirror traffic and there is still lot of free bandwith that can be used. So I think mirror of ISO can be added to download page if needed. OK. I find cause of problem with mirror: pacman wanted files like "core.db" (and this is in fact symlink to core.db.tar.gz). Apache was not configured with FollowSymLinks, so this files was missing for download through http. Now update command is OK.
karibu Hi there ! As I'm seeing no mirror in Asia for the moment, I take the opportunity to create a new mirror, in Vietnam. http://mirror.freedif.org/KaOS/ Let me know if any issue.
demm karibu Thank you for this, really appreciated. Would you like to be added to the Sponsors page? If yes, how (image/text/link)? https://kaosx.us/about/sponsors/ Mirror will be added to the pacman-mirrolist package right away.
karibu Hi Demm, For the sponsor, a simple link to freedif.org will be appreciated. (OpenSource apps How to) Thank you
karibu Hi there, You can now found the Vietnamese mirror statistics here: http://mirror.freedif.org/Stats/KaOS.html (But so far, 0 traffic...)
karibu Hi there, I'm surprised by the small bandwidth used by KaOS. Not many users in VN/around probably. All good from the infra point of view right?
demm All works correct, but it seems virtually no-one changes from the default mirror as shipped on new installs (mirror in Frankfurt, Germany). That default mirror is getting overloaded, approaching dozens of terabytes of traffic a month, while none of the other mirrors see much traffic at all.
karibu Hi demm, I see. May be a solution like mirrorbrain needs to be implemented, or a command to sort all the mirrors by speed (Like what Sabayon does), etc... Happy to see there is no issue from my side at least.
demm Pacman has a tool for that, rankmirrors. But that requires a change in the Installer and users being connected to the internet during the install.
