@srdeltiempo On updating you get a whole lot more than Plasma 5.11, about 1/2 of the install is replaced, so it can be any of those that cause this.
rhynchos Is that a hybrid graphics system too?
For either of you, is there an option to disable the nvidia graphics card in the BIOS?
To really debug, you will need to use the Live mode. Boot into console mode. You do this by typing 3
when booting in BIOS mode, this will add 3 to the kernel line. In UEFI mode, type e
(to enter edit mode), use the end
key, to go the the end of the kernel line, use the space key, then type 3
and use the enter
key to start the boot process.
Once booted in console mode, use live
for boths username & password to login.
If this works correctly then your issue is with the X server. Start sddm manually:
sudo systemctl start sddm
If this fails, post the errors that are shown.
If sddm fails, see if it will run Plasma by going around sddm, login in tty2 by using the Ctrl-Alt-F2
keys. Now copy one file:
cp .xinitrc.debug .xinitrc
once .xinitrc is present, run startx
to try and start Plasma again.
