Is it possible to run KaOS on Core2 Duo with 1gb ram ?

You can run it in Live mode (if the CPU is 64 bit capable), but the installer needs more RAM, that is why the minimum requirement is set at 1.5 Gb of RAM

Can I ask here, why installer needs this much ram? Even more than the live CD?

It is not the Installer that needs all that RAM, it is the unsquashfs process during the actual copying/installing of the system.

2 months later

Minimum is 1.5 gb, but 1gb is enough. as long you didn't use firefox to browse.

No, it is not enough, unsquashfs alone needs 900-1000Mb during the copying of the ISO, the live system needs at least 250-300 (that is with absolute no apps opened), that is why the minimum is set for 1.5 Gb.

I manage to install KaOS in old Dell optiplex with 1GB ram.

You need to have swap somewhere.

And with the command : swapon /dev/sdx you enable swap during live mode.

And go to install...

It slow but it work.

And now all my 64bits computer run KaOS.

What else...
