First, minimal test ISO is uploaded for the August stable ISO release. Plan is to release in a week to ten days

Besides the usual updates, biggest news for this release will be the aesthetics. Midna has been redone, meaning new SDDM, splashscreen, lockscreen, logout screen. Also new is the switch to Application Launcher menu.

Midna 2021 SDDM:

The move of Calamares modules to QML is now almost completed. The Users and Summary modules are now also in QML, leaves just 1 not ported (partitioning).

As always, early test ISOs are minimal, very few apps, just a web-browser, file manager, text editor, GUI package manager. The non-free Nvidia drivers are included since they are a big part of what needs testing.

Plan is to have Frameworks 5.85.0, KDE Applications 21.08.0, Plasma 5.22.4 and Linux 5.13.xx on the final ISO.

The ISO is using packages from the build repo, but that repo is not enabled, so if you decide to install, make sure to add the build repo to your pacman.conf.

Debug packages for Calamares are part of all ISOs, run Calamares with gdb if you encounter errors.
provide the installation log, if you encounter any issue at all

You can start Calamares from the Welcome app, or run it with:

sudo calamares -d

The install log will be created in the home directory of the Live user, see ~/installation.log. It is available after the install in the target system in /var/log/installation.log
If run from cli, make sure to pastebin the full output, since no installation.log will be copied then, though that log is more complete.

A feature long tried to implement, is finally working, copying the wireless network settings from the Live session is now preserved for the newly installed system. That warrants a new full ISO.
Updated are the kernel (5.13.11), an upstream fix for plasma-framework icon scaling issue is included. Also added is a small bug fix for the newly used Application Launcher.
New ISO is up.

I am a newcommer to KAOS. I booted the live USB stick (AUG release), but in searching the menus, I did not find the location or wording to activate the wireless networking. If you are updating the manuals or the software, could a clear path to a network list of IP addresses be provided. I wish to compare KAOS versus other KDE distros, and in particular, my test (Desktop) would include printer setup.

So far, KAOS is most interesting. I will be installing it onto a SSD partition today.

Please start a new thread when asking about technical issues when using KaOS, this thread was for the test cycle, ISO is released, test cycle is finished.

I'll answer here before closing this thread now, further discussion won't be done here.
Not clear what you are asking, the network widget in the panel is not what you are looking for? Just go to the bottom right > network widget lets you connect. If no Wifi is listed there, then hardware info is needed.

demm locked the discussion .
