Hey, just wanted to post a tidbit for anyone who's taken a peek at KaOS, but seen the posts about Brother printers and their 32-bit only drivers and were scared off. Turns out at least some of these printers will work fine without drivers using the IPP protocol:

I just tried it with my printer (an HL-3180CDW) from a LiveBoot KaOS instance, adding the printer with the command:
sudo lpadmin -p NewPrinter -E -v ipp://192.168.1.2/ipp -m everywhere
This may not work for everyone, but if your old Brother printer has network capability it might be a viable solution. I'm also not sure yet if there's a similar solution for the scanner, but in general printing seems the more in-demand function.
Not sure if I have the drive to play with a KaOS install again, bit I figured I'd post this because if I had seen a post like this a year and a half ago maybe I would've stuck with it.
