login screen: change keyboard layout to german

Hello,
since half a year my keyboard layout of the login screen changed from german to english. I refer to the login screen, where I can decide between wayland and X11 session. Where can I reset it to german? In the system config menu I have not found a way to do it.

Since you mention 6 months, did this start with the plasma 6 move? What ssdm theme is in use? Did you update that theme to be ready for Plasma 6?
If it did coincide with the Plasma 6 move, make sure to try either the Breeze theme or Midna.

It is possible that it occurred with the move to Plasma 6, but I am not 100% sure. My
theme always is/was Breeze, but recently I switched to Midna. Nevertheless my keyboard layout of the sddm is still English.

I solved it by adjusting /etc/sddm.conf and by changing the entry DisplayServer from wayland to x11
