Download KaOS_Test

First, minimal test ISO is uploaded for the January stable ISO release.

Calamares had quite a few partition module changes, including the option to hide LVM/encrypted installs, not used for this ISO. For the most part though this ISO is needed for a massive amount of updates.

As always, early test ISOs are minimal, very few apps, just a web-browser, file manager, text editor, GUI package manager. The non-free Nvidia drivers are included since they are a big part of what needs testing, especially the move to 565 will need attention from those who have the hardware to test this driver.

Plan is to have Frameworks 6.10.0, KDE Applications 24.12.1, Plasma 6.2.5 and Linux 6.12.xx on the final ISO.

The ISO is using packages from the build repo, but that repo is not enabled, so if you decide to install, make sure to add the build repo to your pacman.conf.

Debug packages for Calamares are part of all ISOs, run Calamares with gdb if you encounter errors.
provide the installation log, if you encounter any issue at all

You can start Calamares from the Welcome app, or run it with:

sudo calamares -d

The install log will be created in the home directory of the Live user, see ~/installation.log. It is available after the install in the target system in /var/log/installation.log
If run from cli, make sure to pastebin the full output, since no installation.log will be copied then, though that log is more complete.

First full ISO is uploaded, quite a lot of updates since the last minimal ISO, but no major issues found on that ISO and these updates shouldn't bring new bugs.
Kernel moved to 6.12.10, Vulkan & LLVM packages were updated.
For the final ISO, a few of the KaOS will need the translations pulled & the release notes are not finished yet, so certainly one more full ISO will come, but any testing of this ISO will be much appreciated.

Clean install as a VMWare guest (which defaults to MBR, hence GRUB). One nit: The installer correctly guessed my desired time zone (Americas, NY), but the push-pin on the map was in the middle of the US. If I had actually been there, I would have preferred an hour west (probably would have been listed as Americas, Chicago).

Second and most probably final full ISO is uploaded.
Kernel again moved, now at 6.12.11, Croeso has a new browser option added, in all about 200 packages updated in the last week, but no new issues expected, so hopefully this ISO will be released as the next stable in a day or two.
