I found a bug 2 years ago, that Nate himself confirmed, who made the internal display of a notebook (in the worst case), or specific external displays (in the best case), go black with no return.
Restoring that needs you to div into a tty, or live session, to edit a file thats not editable at runtime. Which hurts the unix principle of managing the entire configuration in files, that can be edited by hand.
I understand that Plasma is done by volunteers, so it will obviously be corrected, when somebody finds the time and will for it.
The issue is, that Nate (and everybody else in the developer chat) tried to downplay it. As if this is not a critical issue, and that probably because it doesnt effect anyone of them personally.
