I tried multiple times to set up the table within kpartitionmanager. No go. So I decided to cheat a bit. I took the drive out of the machine and hooked it up to a partition manager under Windows. I proceeded to set up the drive using GPT table and ext4 for the partitions leaving the first as unformatted. So far so good.
Next thing I did was to install the drive back into the KaOS box and fire up the live CD. Go into kpartitionmanager and set the bios_grub flag. Onto the disk setup screen to indicate the mount points. I hit "Next" and it says "When using a GPT Partition Table you need to have a unformatted partition with bios_grub flag!".
Ok. Back to kpartitionmanager. It shows the partition as unformatted. I set the bios_grub flag. Apply the change and back to the disk setup screen. Oh joy, all the mount points have disappeared. Reset all the points and indicate the partitions to be formatted and guess what happens..... I get the same message about needing to have a bios_grub flag set.
Grrrr.
Is it really this difficult to get this thing up and running? I have had a gpt table set up in the past. I believe I had Chakra set up with one if memory serves. I am starting to understand how the guy on the KaOS youtube video who could not get past the disk set up section felt.
Are people actually using the GPT table or are they using the MS-DOS partition setup?
