Some shots have been up on the KaOS G+ channel, will keep the forum updated on this cross distro installer too.

Code in github:

Used PKGBUILD so you can see what it depends on currently:

The partitioning part needs a good bit of kf5, if you want to see it , then use one of the kf5 preview ISOs and install Calamares there (it is up in the kde-next repo).

Some shots:

Partitioning is starting to be active, summary page added:

Status update:

Many modules are implemented, like python jobs, mount, unmount the target for install, unsquashfs (not all working, but the modules are there).

A first install of a KaOS-kf5 ISO with calamares:

Only the user had to be manually created on reboot into the new install, so calamares is already at a usable state.

Video preview of using Calamares to install the latest kf5 ISO on real hardware, succesfully installed on an ATI system:

Si se implementara la opción de establecer manualmente el UID, en la pantalla de Crear Usuario, ahorraría a algunos usuarios trabajo post-instalación.

Autopartioning addition has started for Calamares:

It is getting close......

Calamares is going to be the installer for KaOS on the next stable ISO. ISO will be delayed a bit because of this, since one part is missing, setting locale.

Here are some shots showing the latest features, branding is implemented, UEFI installs are an option, autopartitioning is possible for full disk use and alongside.

Calamares is up in Transifex with the needed translation file, anyone willing to help translate?

If anyone has read this post, please understand, this is completely false:

Calamares is NOT a Manjaro project, in fact they keep a branch separate from the real development, nor have they contributed any code for over 4-5 months.

The biggest contributors are Netrunner guys from Bluesystems, though very good help has come lately from Debian and Fedora developers. Luckily, KaOS has been able to contribute code too, so has Maui and BBQLinux.

Oh look, another poorly researched Phoronix "article".

Without trying to sound harsh, there's a good reason I stopped relying on information from Phoronix and this is a prime example.

Language selection widget is added, seems to only "connect" to translation files at the moment.

For KaOS, this latest build has keyboard configuration settings implemented, gummiboot installs add the correct swap partition for hibernate settings and adds a fallback kernel module in the gummiboot menu (these options are not merged upstream yet, need more testing before a merge will be done).

Autopartioning addition has started for Calamares:

The "something else" would have been confusing except I've installed enough distro's by now to know what to expect. Overall I was very impressed :) A definite improvement over what the other guys are using.

Locale selection is getting close to being usable for installing, more translation/language choices are up:

Biggest obstacle for Calamares being used on KaOS stable ISOs is implemented, selecting exact locale and storing that selection so it can be used for all kinds of postinstall functions:
