working on other linux os, lpinfo gives network dnssd address and network ip address. I am far from being familiar with Arch, I am more of a out of the box user (and old and sometimes grumpy !), but I really like the speed and look of KaOs . Using the live edition for now, could that be the problem? or is it true that Canon still use 32bit therefore the problem ?

Never posted before, so feel free to advise me on how to get better at this.

First of, if you are looking for Arch or any of it's derivatives, then you are at the wrong place for KaOS, not Arch based in any way, see:
https://kaosx.us/about/based/

And that Canon printer (and most of Canon) is lib32 only, so does not have support in KaOS:
https://kaosx.us/about/32bit/

Live mode is a good indication as to what is supported, as in this case there will be no difference for that printer Live or installed.

demm thks for quick reply, 50$ gets you so much right ?(Costco has one for same price hp4522, I bet its 64 bit!!) . I am still puzzled as why its working on x86_64 distributions like Elementary OS, LXLE, ExTi x, Ultimate Edtion, but not on Fedora, Mageia, Tumbleweed, any clues ? I should have read a bit more on KaOS, not too late I guess. I am not looking for Arch derivatives, just trying different things, and KaOS impressed me, ici.tou.tv playing videos on Qupzilla without any lag, quick startup,(appreciated on older machines), very different from other distros, etc...
tks again from a 58 year old Cdn military clarinet player !

You need a distribution that ships lib32 packages for your x86_64 install. Just about all larger distros will ship those, though you might have to enable additional repositories to get access to them.

As in the link given to you, it is explained why KaOS will not add such a repository.

It might be worth pointing out that if you just want the basic printing to work, try giving gutenprint drivers a shot. I see MX492 listed as supported printer by gutenprint. Don't be afraid of the "experimental" driver tag, I have a Canon MX870 all-in-one that works just fine, including printing and scanning over WiFi, all without needing the official Canon drivers.
