Josh To access sda5 you have to mount it first. To mount it, create a folder to mount it in and mount it there. With this method you can only read from it, to make a backup fx.
mkdir /mnt/ntfs
mount -t ntfs /dev/sda5 /mnt/ntfs
If you want to mount it with read write access, you have to use FUSE. I recommend that you back up all you data to external drive and repartition everything (have to make a fresh install after this of course) so you get a better filesystem suited for Linux. If you don't have any particular reasons to create multiple partitions, I recommend to just create two (for / and /home), and maybe a third if you use swap.
