I was playing around with KaOS and was testing out it's version of Pacman but as soon as I tried to install the Gnome desktop environment, I immediately got errors when I typed "sudo pacman -S gnome-shell" telling me it could not find the packages. Is there any way for me to fix this problem and may somebody please look into this issue?

Well, if there is no Gnome, can I install like a stand-alone window manager (i3/dwm or openbox) or the XFCE Desktop environment?

Please read the links posted for you, it answers what KaOS is. But according to your questions, you are looking at the wrong distribution.

I like KDE software and Plasma5 but I'm a poweruser so I need to be able to change things if I want to.

How about an analogy?

I'm a power driver, so I need to be able to turn this Range Rover into a Formula One if I want to.

I looked in your parts store but I didn't find any wings (front or rear), semi-automatic sequential carbon titanium gearboxes, or steering wheels equipped to perform many functions like changing gears, changing brake pressure, calling on the radio, fuel adjustment, and so on. All I found were some pricey seat covers and a luggage rack, and a tow bar package.

Is there any way for me to fix this and could somebody please look into this issue?

What do Range Rovers have to do with Linux desktop environments? Linux is not Windows. It will never be. Linux is about choice and freedom. Windows is about using it as/is. I was simply asking how to install a different Desktop Environment or Different Software. Linux is Open Source. Range Rovers and F1 cars are not remotely similar to Linux. Do you know anything about Linux?

This thread has run it's course. KaOS has set clear goals right from the start in 2013, one DE, focus on one toolkit, one architecture, again see the links:

Focus on one DE (KDE Plasma), one toolkit (Qt), one architecture (x86_64)

It targets users who have tried many Operating Systems/Distributions/Desktop Environments and have found they prefer a Distribution that uses all its available resources to work on one DE to make that the best it can be, and know that after their searches, the best for them is KDE Plasma.

Of course as noted (always) a distro making choices is not for everyone, so you have the option to choose from hundreds who do not make such choices. That has nothing to do with a power user, any power users can do whatever needed within a certain DE.

As noted before, the OP does not want a distro that has made a choice for one DE, so no need to use KaOS.
