Hello all. After update VLC to 2.1.80-1 yesterday I can't open it. If I launch it from the console I got:

$ vlc

VLC media player 2.2.0-pre4 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.0-pre3-50-g246d92b)

Violación de segmento

If there is more information I need to provide, please tell me.

Thanks in advance

Are you fully updated? Checked if your mirror was synced before updating? Any plugins in use from outside sources in vlc?

Might be needed to post your /var/log/pacman.log from the last week or so.

gdb vlc

then type "run"

after it crashes type "bt", hit enter until no more output and pastebin the full backtrace

Here it is:

Sorry, nothing there (might need a debug build to get some answers).

No answer as why it fails on your system, need to see if someone can confirm, or if it is an error on your system only.

When was the last time vlc ran correct, did it only start after the ffmpeg update?

I think the last time was the wednesday night. I can't understand well your question but vlc crash since the last ffmpeg and vlc update on Nov 6.

It's not working here either.

Any change if you re-generate the vlc cache?

/usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugin

Yes, it works now. Thanks

6 days later

never had vc fail on me yet try installing without using console it might work usually works fine

Thanks for your suggestion but I've tried reinstalling vlc in the past and it didn't work.
