After much time wondering why samba was not working and going through the smb.conf file line by line with little success.
It now seems that the update to "tevent 0.9.31" from "0.9.29" prevents "nmbd" from loading. A downgrade solves this.

Any comments please.

Any error messages shown? Logs?
There is no indication of an API change in tevent 0.9.31

Best though is to open a bug report for this, forum is not a good place for debugging.

tevent 0.9.30 was removed from the build repo for the issues you mention, reports were all over, so that version never made it to regular KaOS users.
I followed Gentoo for moving to 0.9.31, it was supposed to be fixed:

PS. Adding "solved". The tagging option seems missing in my account. I don't think I'm lacking nous but have had no luck editing the first post or adding a tag.

I need to figure a way to give Original Poster the option to add tags.....

The orginal poster can add the tags when it is solved. Just do this in my printer question.
There are 2 ways to do that:
First when you go to your question and tick after reply on the drop down you see there "edit tags". There you can add the solved tag.
The second way is when you open the forum you see all the topics. Go to your question and go to the end. You see there 3 points where you can follow the question and edit the tags.
