If I right-click on my panel, I see an option for Enter Edit Mode.
I have tried dragging launchers there, but with mixed success. I wish I could do it consistently so I could tell you how.

Plasma 6 is NOT ready for a regular end-user production install, please use a stable Plasma 5 ISO from the Download page:

mparillo Yeah, the Plasma 5 Panel Enter Edit Mode had a LOCK/UNLOCK in more options. I can drag icons to the panel Task Bar not the panel.

demm "Plasma 6 is NOT ready for a regular end-user production install," I'm not in a production environment and I have never been a "regular end-user". I'm staying on the Test ISO because because it is doing the important things I want it to do.

chief I figured it out. The panel is actually not locked. I just dragged the apps I want in the panel to the panel. The The Task Manager was pretty close to the app launcher so I had to be accurate with my first placement. It went smooth after. And I can changed the ICON properties and move them around.https://scontent.ftpa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/391626945_335550215497417_715124993487767323_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_p180x540&_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048&_nc_ohc=4Sx93pPrmNMAX_BPLzk&_nc_ht=scontent.ftpa1-1.fna&oh=00_AfAGVBHjgbz4DTj_kDrZ8Vu7qTd6_pWSo9gbxFXhf0WHvw&oe=653083C0 The link is a picture of my working desktop. It does the main things I want, and now I'll play with it to make it awesome. 🙂

Same for me. In July, I welcomed the opportunity to test-drive Plasma 6 without building it myself, and I cannot believe how much more usable it has become since then. I have other laptops, which I use very occasionally (in part, while I wait for konversation6 and print-manager6), but KaOS 6 has been my daily runner since 2023-09-23. I acknowledge that the next rebuild might break something (or maybe even everything), and if it does, I know to report it, but not to whine about it, and I will just wait for the next ISO.

A new Plasma 6 ISO is up again. First time that autologin is enabled for Plasma 6, there are no longer issues with Wayland on Virtualbox.
          Added is newly ported Kompare6.
This ISO is getting quite close to Plasma 5 quality/stability, which is a nice sign, since upstream KDE plans to release a first Plasma 6 release next week (Alpha).
A few more rebuilds are needed to make it possible to have a complete kf5 & kf6 co-installed, if that is done, things are looking close to have the next stable ISO being Plasma 6 based.....

The only missing piece for me is epsonscan2.

Is print-manager6 working? Do I need to install and enable cups?

mparillo Cups needs to be installed and enabled, though the plasmoid does not work here.

Thank you very much. I had an HP printer, so for me:
              sudo pacman -S hplip
and cups was already a dependency
              systemctl enable cups.service
              reboot
              hp-setup -u
And my printer was already selected and default in System Settings > Printers.
              I successfully printed from kate6.

              Hello,
to get the Plasma 6 updates we should reinstall the system from the new ISO (when you'll publish a new one) or we will get them using the normal updates?

              • demm replied to this.

kaos_user See the very first post in this thread, it tells you which repos are needed (and will always show the latest avaialble ISO).

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry but I can't find the repo in the first post or thread nor in the blog post. 🙁

In a following post you write "you will need to edit pacman.conf and add the build repo above core, then add kde-next above build once rebooted into the new system." but I can't understand what it means

kaos_user That is written that way for a reason, see https://forum.kaosx.us/d/3062-instructions-how-to-convert-a-plasma-5-install-to-plasma-6 for why no further explanation will be given.
If you do not know the basics of how to test/add repo's, etc on KaOS, installing an alpha Plasma is not a good idea, just use the Live session from the ISO's to preview Plasma 6, there is a new ISO about every 2 weeks.

demm Thank you very much. Don't worry, I won't report issues or open new threads if the system will break. As I'm not expert, I've installed it on a spare hard disk.
I just want to have the basic "Kaos 6" system configured. I'll follow the instructions in the link. Thanks again
